From Soldier to Student
Transitioning from soldier to student can present challenges for student veterans and their families.
Many student veterans not only identify as a student but may also hold many different responsibilities outside of the classroom. Relationships that are important to you may be impacted as you transition into college life. You may find yourself feeling distinct from other college students. The university environment can also be very different compared to military culture, especially in terms of structure and learning outcomes. In addition, some student veterans may struggle with depression, anxiety, difficulty with sleep or concentration, or post-traumatic stress symptoms.

Counseling is a safe place to explore and discuss transition difficulties, events related to military service or academic and relationship concerns. Whether you served stateside or in combat, in the reserves, National Guard, or regular military, you can expect your counselor to be affirming and accepting.
We are open to speaking with you at any time. However, if you notice that the symptoms you experience interfere with the way you want to live your life, become worse, or others are concerned for you, it may be time to access counseling services.
